The Allen Whirlwind -- posted by Mom

I can't believe we never posted about the kids performing in Swift Strike last August!  Will, Sarah Grace, John, and Richard acted in it, George covered tech, while I was the backstage babysitter for a newborn whose mommy was in the production.  Richard was actually the lead, and we were extremely proud of the fantastic job he did.  Must find pictures to share.

As most of you know, the older boys have been working at various restaurants over the last several years learning the ropes of every aspect of running a restaurant, with the goal of having a family business they could work together.  Will and Sarah Grace went to culinary school with this end in mind.  Lo and behold, Everyday Gourmet, the restaurant Will worked at and loved came available for purchase, and the children recently bought it.

We're still in the process of developing the new branding and expanding on the restaurant's current offerings.  We've already been able to adapt our home recipes for Thanksgiving and Christmas side dishes and desserts, which have been well received.

Here's the Facebook page, and we would welcome you to follow for updates!

Also, yes, that was Sarah Grace and Noah in Columbia Metropolitan Magazine.

Who says homeschoolers miss out on the performing arts? Granted, this was performed in a living room to an audience consisting of our maternal grandparents and their household help, but still. Happy Independence Day, Y'all!

Overheard -- posted by Mom

Richard:  The Annie Leibovitz exhibit at the art museum made a lot more sense when I found out she is an out-there lesbian.

George:  Yeah, a photograph of the water in the river where Virginia Wolfe killed herself was interesting when I thought it was just a picture of water.  But I liked the picture of the television that Elvis Presley shot.

Dad:  What?

Mom:  Yeah, Elvis Presley shot his TV when Elliott Gould was on because he stole his girlfriend.

Dad:  Huh?

Mom:  Oh wait, it was Robert Goulet.  He stole Elvis' girlfriend, so when Elvis saw him on TV, he shot it.

Dad:  Oh, that makes much more sense for someone to leave Elvis for Robert Goulet rather than Elliott Gould.  No offense Elliott Gould.

George:  You old people, what ARE you talking about?

Another Russian Invasion... of Christian Comrades!

This is a mostly Russian fellowship we visited in Charlotte on Saturday.  Thomas (back left, striped shirt) found Sarah Grace's YouTube ministry while doing an Internet search for other genuine Saints.  It just so happens the Jacksonville group she had been writing and Skyping with had already planned to visit the Charlotte contingent-- so off we went!

Of Whom The World Was Not Worthy -- posted by Sarah Grace

I understand this is a 30-year-old video of the underground Chinese church receiving Bibles. Truly awesome.
