The Vienna Philharmonic -- posted by Mom

Kids,

Laura Wood, at The Thinking Housewife (one of my weekly Internet haunts), has an entry reminding us that the PBS broadcast of the Vienna Philharmonic’s annual New Year’s Day concert can be seen online until January 16.  Please read her current entry, plus a previous post on the Vienna Philharmonic resisting feminization and multiculturalism.

You have until January 16 to watch this performance from the Golden Hall of the Vienna Musikverein, conducted  by Franz Welser-Möst.  The broadcast is hosted by Julie Andrews.  The Young Guns are amazed at the timing of all this as our current read-aloud is The Story of The Trapp Family Singers by Maria Trapp.  We first started reading it when we began riding bicycles together, put it down inexplicably, and then didn't pick it up again until just prior to discovering this performance which, brace yourself, coincided with the chapter of Maria enjoying the theatre and opera in VIENNA.  If that don't beat all.
