Billy left Monday (boohoo), but while he was here he marveled at The Land of the Free's outrageously humongous strawberries and unnaturally gigantic chicken breasts. It was embarrassing, really. Not that the tea-drinkers don't use growth accelerators and hormones, because they do. (Try to see the documentaries Food Inc. and Food Matters.)
Besides the obvious concerns about the effects of applied chemicals and genetically modified food, the reality is that bigger is not necessarily better. The strawberries seem hollow with less flavor, and the chicken breasts are just too much! If it weren't for Sally's expert culinary skill, we would have eaten mounds of bland white meat. How do they expect the cook to penetrate a mile high hunk of meat with flavor without bothering to marinate or brine everything? Well, Sarah's Chicken Parmesan was delicious nevertheless, but she's a professional!
